Brus Laguna has one of the best
populations of snook in Central America. In
the region there have been four different
species of snook identified the Fat Snook,
Tarpon Snook, Swordspine Snook and Common
Snook. The numerous rivers, streams and lagoons
of the area provide unlimited fishing spots
and some great snook fishing. |

The snook is a large fish
with a protruding lower jaw and a black
lateral stripe that runs from just behind
the gills to the tail. It is a silvery-green
color.

Snook can be in
freshwater to offshore saltwater, however
they do not like temperature change and in
cooler water conditions they normal gather
near shorelines, streams and take shelter
in mangroves and along river edges. |

The snook is an
extremely strong fish and is an exciting catch
its strength and speed for its size is hard
to compare to any other game fish. This has
made the snook one of the most sought after
game fish. |
